Graphic design trends 2027: six looks and how to make them
If 2026 was the year designers went back to print, 2027 is the year they reach for touch. The looks rising on posters, album covers and feeds all promise a surface: soft clay you could squeeze, metal and glass that catch the light, paper you could tear, grain you could feel under your thumb. Even the type is restless, stretching and moving as if it had a body.
Below are six of them, in pairs that work well together. Each links to a long guide: where the look comes from, where it fits and where it does not, and how to make it in Paletoo with every step left editable. Every picture in those guides was made in Paletoo, on our own templates — nothing is borrowed from stock.
Surfaces you want to touch
Puffy clay letters and mirror chrome answer the same wish: type that feels like an object. Clay is soft and friendly — packaging, food, kids, playful brands. Chrome and liquid glass are cool and expensive — music, tech, fashion. Both need a calm background to read.
Made by hand, printed by machine
Grain, off-register riso inks and cut-and-taped collage make a digital picture feel made. They are the quickest way to give stock photos and phone snaps a voice of their own, and they pair well: a collage of riso-printed cut-outs is a whole zine cover.

Flat inks, a coarse dot, toner grit and paper: the print look, on any photo.

Cut-outs, photocopies and masking tape: a handmade look for a feed full of polished pictures.
Type and pixels on the move
Kinetic type and Y2K pixel art come from screens — film titles, LED boards, games — and look best where they started: stories, reels, event screens. Even on a still poster, frozen motion and a coarse pixel grid say «now» louder than any gradient.
Which trend to pick
Start from what the design has to say, not from the trend. Warm and friendly: clay. Premium or futuristic: chrome and glass. Honest, local, handmade: grain and collage. Loud and fast: kinetic type. Playful and a little nostalgic: pixels.
Use one look per design and keep it editable. Trends turn over every year or two; a design whose effects are still live steps, not flattened pixels, can be toned down or swapped in a minute. Last year’s looks, twenty-six of them, are in Graphic design trends 2026.
